XP Home came with computer. XP Pro CD was purchased for full installation.
How can I safely install Pro and keep all of my data and settings from Home
version? I have a lot of info, including POS data, that I want to keep.

As DL stated, have backups, and after the backups are complete, insert the
XP Pro CD and do an "upgrade" to XP Pro - not the method I would use, but
will should suffice without requiring you to reinstall your applications and
data. My method, back up all data and settings files, find all my
application CDs (so I can reinstalled) and do a format (long) and clean
install of XP Pro, install my device drivers, applications, configuration
and data files. This way I'm sure any gremlins resonating in the XP Home
version are not brought forward into my XP Pro setup!

Backup everything you cannot afford to lose, then if you purchased the
retail and not the OEM version, you can run setup Windows. Select the option
to upgrade. If all goes well, your Home will be upgraded to Pro. Your
applications and settings will carry over to the pro installation.
I cannot stress the importance of backing up your information. My suggestion
is to use imaging software to a backup to an external hard drive.
