I am trying to create a website. My ISP supports FP 2000,
but not 2003 (go figure), and I cannot get my links to
upload to the site. Is there a way to save a FP 2003 in FP
2000 format so it will work? Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Dana

When I try to publish to the website, I get an error
message that not all links are supported and I
chose "ignore" and what goes on my website is everything
(at least on my home page) except the navigation links.

Do I understand that if FP 2003 does not use extensions
then a FP2000 program will read the FP2003 files? When I
contacted my ISP, their only suggestion was to Publish
using FP 2000, which they fully support. They stated they
do not support FP2003. But, of course, trying to buy old
software is not an easy task. Anyway, thanks for any help
you can give me. Would it help to see my site and what
I'm talking about? http://www.danamax.com. Thanks,

Dana

FP2003 features with require the run-time version of the extensions (which
are mostly the same features as in FP2002) require that you publish to a
server that has the FP2002 extensions, not FP2000 extensions.

There are *no* server extensions for FP 2003. They don't exist. The host
can either have FP 2002 extensions or FP 2000 extensions installed on the
server.

If you are using features in FP 2002 that require the FP 2002 server
extensions, such as the links you may be referring to, and the host only has
FP 2000 extensions installed, that feature will *not* work.

FP 2002 features that require FP 2002 extensions will not work on a FP 2000
server.

Does the client (web master) have to have FP2002 extensions (and Share
Points) on the machine that is doing the develpement? I've read that you
must also publish from the server to your harddrive to make changes and
updates.

If so, are these required to be on the development machine?
Thanks!

In order to have the FP extensions on the local machine, the machine must
have IIS installed, but the web master can work directly on the live site,
as long as it has the extensions.

So what your saying is that the developer (webmaster) cannot install
extensions locally. If it is not installed & the webmaster does not want to
modify the files directly from the live site, can the webmaster still
publish everything to his hardrive where he can work on that way. Then
republish it back to the server when updates are finished.

The web master can install them locally if he has Windows XP Pro or Windows
2000 Pro, and installs IIS.

Without the FP extensions, the web master would have to open the site in a
FTP application and then download the web content, make changes then
publish, however any features in the web or add to the web locally that
requires the FP run-time extensions will not function if uploaded via FTP.

That is clear! Thanks for the info.
