Stefan,
I just read the page you gave the link to, and I find it confusing.
( I understand what they're saying, but it's very ambiguous )

Under the Publish to CD section it says:

Publish a Web Directly to a CD-ROM
To do this, follow these steps:
Start FrontPage, and then open your Web.
On the File menu, click Publish Web.
In the Publish Destination dialog box, do one of the following:
Type the path to a folder on your hard disk (for example, drive letter:\My
Website).
-or-
Click Browse to locate a folder.
NOTE: If you previously chose a publish destination for this Web site, the
Publish Destination dialog box does not appear. Proceed to step 4.
Click OK.

It never once mentions the CD drive, except in the very end when it mentions
finalizing.

My glasses are clean too.!!!!

want to go there again!

any other ideas?

Pam
ps...when I click on the publish to cd in fp 2k - it says please insert a
properly formatted CD into the drive....geez....

Pam,
When you start Adaptec direct CD the wizard formats the CD in 5 seconds and then you can
publish your web to the CD.
It is very simple I do it all the time.
------------------------------
Formatting your CD
During the CD-it design process, I attempted to cater for the needs of everybody who has the
capability of recording onto Compact Disc media. However, to successfully copy a FrontPage
2000 website onto a CD, the Strictly CD-it Wizard requires direct write access to the drive
letter where your recordable CD media is located. In order to prepare your CD media correctly,
you must observe the following points:
Please format your CD with software which allows any application to read and write files
directly to it. An example of such software is DirectCD by Adaptec. This very popular utility
is distributed with many CDR/CDRW drives and utilises packet writing technology.

Do NOT prepare your media with CD Mastering Software (such as EasyCD Creator by Adaptec).

The Strictly CD-it Wizard will perform various tests on your website before it is published
onto a disc. However - the first time you publish a web to a CD, you are advised to publish to
a spare CDRW (where possible), just to be doubly sure that everything will operate correctly
when finally distributed.

Autorun Capability
When the Strictly CD-it Wizard publishes your web to a CD, it also publishes elements which
enable the use of the 32bit Windows auto-insert notification mechanism. This makes it somewhat
easier for your targeted audience to view your CD. However, this autorun feature has a few
minor implications.
The autorun mechanism requires an Internet browser on the target system in order to function
correctly. After all - you are publishing a website. If a browser is not installed, CD-it
allows you to provide your end user with the opportunity to install one. However, it is up to
you to obtain the browser software from the manufacturer and you must copy it into your web
before publication. This way, the autorun mechanism can ask the user if they want to install
it (if required).

Your CD will only automatically run if your target audience is accessing it on a PC with the
Window 95, 98, NT4 or 2000 operating system installed.

Some PC users might disable the autorun feature. Therefore, you should always provide
instructions on how to manually view the content of your disk. Tip: In the event that the CD
will not automatically run, it is advisable to tell the user to launch autorun.exe. This file
will be placed in the root folder of your CD. If this file is executed - rather than the
default Internet Page - Strictly CD-it will attempt to install a browser if one is not already
installed, and provided you included one on your disk.

Must admit that section is confusing since it implies you can do it direct to a CD, but uses the process to publish to a hard disc
1st (and misses the step to copy to CD)
TBMK, you can't do it directly to a CD w/o 3rd party software, but I haven't tried it
