According to the Knowledge Base a PST file may not exceed
2GB. I have a case where the PST is 1.02GB, the Archive
file is 1.54GB and the user also acces two other
mailboxes. The user experience slow performance and
Outlook stop responding quite often. Is this
configuration still within the limits or may it be the
cause of frutration.
(Outlook 2000 connecting to Exchange Server 2000, Part of
SBS 2000 with a PST and archive file residing in the user
directory on the server, for backup purposes)

Please advise.

Kind regards

the 2Gb limit is not the problem. It's probably just viewing the pst over
the network which is the problem.

if the pst is sitting on the exchange server anyway, wouldn't it be more
efficient to leave the objects stored in exchange server, rather than in the
pst ?

The archive file is getting near the limit, what happens if you move the pst
to local rather than on the LAN/Wan. Is there any reason why the information
cannot be kept on Exchange which is usually preferable to pst's.

I have 50 plus user who receive about 2gb in pictures per
month so it is a hassle keeping the pst's under control I
even have a Winbatch PST bot running around from
workstation to workstation checking pst sizes.

First thing I would do is run scanpst.exe, get the pst
cleaned up then create a second pst (you can open a few of
them and not hurt the performance too much) Have them move
their sent items to the second pst and any thing they want
to archive. You can close this PST and open it whenever
they need it (fast and simple and no different then if
they had to open a word document).

Robert could I get a copy of that Winbatch PST bot you
have and/or scanpst.exe.
