Yes. If you have both the new PST and the old PST you can open them both in
the same instance of Outlook. Just copy the messages from the old PST to the
new PST (just like copying files in Explorer). Once you've got your folders
and messages in the new PST they will still have the same properties
including attachments, they had in the old PST. You can then close the old
PST and do whatever with it, delete, backup and delete or just leave them
both to clean up later. I like to wait until I forget what I've done.

Since Outlook 2003 uses a new Unicode format for .PST files, it's advisable
to let Outlook create a new .PST file and then copy your data from the old
..PST file into it. (With previous versions of Outlook, the best practice
was to simply re-use the old .PST file when upgrading or moving to a new
machine.) However, you should still be able to retain most of your data and
settings in their original format.
After you install Outlook 2003 and it creates a new .PST file, use File |
Open | Outlook Data File to open your old .PST file in the Folder List. For
each of the default folders (Inbox, Calendar, Contacts, etc.) open the
folder in the old .PST, make sure it's set to an unfiltered view such as By
Category, select all items (CTRL+A), and drag them to the corresponding
folder in the new .PST. (You may want to right-click and drag so you get a
Copy option -- I'm not sure whether left-click and drag will copy or move
items between .PSTs.) For the subfolders or other custom folders you have
created in your old .PST, simply right-click and drag the entire folder to
the new .PST and drop it where you want it.
