Has anyone ever had this issue?
Outlook launches but never connects to PST file which is
sitting on a network drive.
-I check Windows Explorer, a couple of network drives are
X'ed out with a red X. After clicking on drive where pst
file sits, X goes away.
-Also, if I close Outlook, disconnect the network drive,
re-connect it manually , and reopen Outlook , the PST
connects correctly.
Specs:
Exchange 5.5 , Outlook 97/2000/Xp mix @ client(mostly 97)
Client OS : Windows XP, 2000 Pro
Server OS : 2000 server
Thanks!

Hello AEO,

Don't use Outlook in the startup folder.
At the start the network drive might be not ready linked and this will lead
in your scenario.

Dear Thomas,
Thank you for the response. For the most part, our users
do not have Outlook in the Startup folder. There might be
an occasional case of that here and there. The users who
have had this problem do not have Outlook in startup.

Thanks!

AEO

Note that storing pst-files on a networkshare isn't supported and
recommended by Microsoft.

Although it works in most cases do not configure the pst-file with an
absolute path but use an UNC instead; \\server\share\folder\outlook.pst
