I made a backup copy of my PST file on a CD and had to re-
install Outlook. I have sucessfully reinstalled Outlook
and I need to import the PST file back into Outlook. I
selected File/Import to import it and selected PST and
the proper path (D:\Outlook\Outlook.pst). I get an error
that says "File Access Denied. You do not have proper
access the file D:\Outlook\Outlook.pst.

How can I import this PST? It is not password protected
and the path is correct. Thanks!

Outlook can't open or do anything with a PST file on a read-only medium.
Copy the PST file to your hard drive, and remove the read-only file
attribute. If you want to use this file as your default, you can search for
*.pst with Outlook closed, delete/rename the default outlook.pst that was
created when you launched Outlook, and open Outlook - it will then ask you
where to find the PST file, and you can point it to your "real" one. Thus no
importing required.

You need to copy the .pst file to the hard drive and then right click,
select properties, and remove the read only check mark.

Then, use File->Open to access your .pst file from within Outlook.
Importing can cause havoc with custom forms, connections between journal and
contacts, and removal of received dates, among other annoyances.
