protection is not work.

I created an excel file and set two colmumn on one worksheet to hide ,and
then set protection on the worksheet. those two colmumns are refered by other
worksheet.
My problem is that user can unhied the protected colmumns. Protection is not
working. Is there anybody know this issue?Please help me out.
 
You have to protect the workbook and protect its structure. You don't state
what version of Excel you are using.

If using Excel 2002 or 2003 you can set options when protecting.

You may have checked "format columns" when protecting.
