Hello

I was wondering if anybody can assist.

I have a word template document which when a new document
is created using this template will create a unigue
reference number which works ok. However in the
documents you are able to overwrite that URN.
Does anybody know how I can protect the table where the
URN resides so it cannot be overwritten

Thanks

Graham

G'day "Graham Gobell" <[email protected]>,

One way is to use a document property to hold the URN and reference
that doc property from within the content.

Depends on the version of Word you have available. Prior to
2003, your only choice is to protect the document as a form,
and insert form fields where the user is allowed to type.

In 2003, you can select ranges of text and lock or leave
them "free".
