Protecting a Couple Cells

I have a workbook with maybe 10 sheets. I want to be able to select certain cells in each of the worksheets that cannot be changed. I don't seem to be able to get the right combination of Format/Sheet/Protection and Tools/Protection/Sheet-Workbook...Can anyone help??
 
Hi Jim
try the following:
- first select all cells for which you want allow entries
- goto 'Format - Cells - Protection' and uncheck 'Locked' for these
cells
- now goto 'Tools - Protection' and protect your worksheet

Repeat for the other worksheets
