Hello all,
I need to know if there is a way that a protected document can be
unprotected if the user forgets the password to the document. Seems the
person that created the document has left the company and well... you know
the rest of the story

Thanks

Protected how?

If protected for forms, create a new document and use Insert => File to
insert the text from the protected file to your new document. You'll
probably have to adjust margins and you may have to copy styles as well,
using the Organizer.

See the MVP FAQ: <URL: http://www.mvps.org/word/> which is awesome!

Hi Charles

Basically you're stuck. If the document is valuable enough to your company then
there are tools around for password recovery. Google "Word password recovery".

Other than that you'll have to recreate the document.

If it's just protected for forms, you can remove the protection by using
Insert | File to insert it into a new document.
