Very strange, but whenever I click on the properties command button icon, it
becomes sunken but doesn't pop up for me to change/create things. I've never
had this happen. Any suggestionis?

Have you tried View >>> Properties from the menu?

Which version of Access?

yes, I've tried everything possible. I've been using access since it first
came out. I'm using 2000 at the moment. Recently MS Office 2007 was
installed and started slowly having issues with Access. Now I click on the
properties button but it is already enable (sunken) and if I remove it to
flat, nothing, sunken, nothing. I press F4 and a yes/no dropdown comes up
and I click Yes and nothing. I've checked all kinds of things, defrag,
compacted repaired, tried a new blank database and it does the same thing so
I know it isn't the program I'm coding. It is Access. I'm wondering if
whenever 2007 updates were installed, it overwrote some .dlls????

Possible, if you didn't use separate directories. I have 2003 and 2007
installed on a Vista machine and haven't got that problem. My guess is that
your installation somehow got corrupted, either by the 2007 install, or
another cause. If this happened immediately after the 2007 install, that's
what I would suspect. Try uninstalling, then rebooting and reinstalling the
2003 installation. If that doesn't work, you'll need to also uninstall 2007
and clean the registry, before reinstalling (in version order if possible)

Thank you for the info. I'm at work now and will have them repair Access.
Re: cleaning registry, at home I use Reg Cure. If I don't use that, how can
I clean the registry? I looked it yesterday morning and couldn't see
anything peculiar. Do you have any suggestions for cleaning it? I believe
the updates on 2007 corrupted my Access 2000. If you could please let me know
about cleaning my registry, I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks again.

Cleaning the registry after uninstalling and rebooting is important because
you get rid of all the junk left behind in the uninstall process. Here is a
list of the top registry cleaners:

The only one I ever used was about 5 years ago I used RegClean to clear out
vestiges of an uninstall of Office 2000 and it worked just fine.

Thank you for the info once again. I use Reg Cure on my home laptop. I'm an
idiot, it was discovered that my properties dialog box was looking for the
other monitor I use (I use 2 at work). For some reason whenever my PC shut
down, the dialog box was apparently positioned on my other monitor,
therefore, whenever I got home to work on my program, it was looking for the
other monitor. I've never had this happen and I've used 2 montors for a very
long time. A lesson learned and thank you once again for staying with me and
helping me with your suggestions.
