I have windows XP professional. I am getting a prompt message every seconds, "one of the USB attached to this computer had malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it." The device status states that no driver was installed. The USB device is the wireless mini mouse (Kensington) that is a plug and play and does not require a driver.

I am requesting help how to eliminate this prompt message. Thank you.

Thanks for your response, Ivee. I read the articles on SP Microsoft Knowledge Base Article no. 813926 which states that "there is no benefit to installing SP1a if you are already running Windows XP SP1. Microsoft does not recommend that you install SP1a if you are already running SP1." Windows XP SP1a is the same as Windows XP SP1 except that the Microsoft virtual machine (VM) is removed in SP1a.

I am already running on SP1 without the VM. Hence, I believe updating it to SP1a won't help.
