Promiscuous Mode

Hi ,
Does anyone know of any way to enable promiscuous mode in XP? or is this a
driver specific option?

heh Look up "packet sniffer" on Google.
 
yeah, i've got etherreal and winpcap installed but i still can't seem to get
any other traffic apart from my own, and it is plugged into a hub :/

try network probe its has a nice interface....

If you run XP without a virus scanner you'll be flirting with trouble.

Thanks for the link to network probe! great software!
I do have a virus scanner :P updated daily as soon as symantec release their
daily virus definitions :D
Still cannot capture traffic that isn't destined for my machine tho,
strange.
I love trouble, keeps me on my toes :P

Replace that "hub" with another hub?
Also, are you using WinPCap v3.2 and Ethereal v.9.14?

I have been using Ethereal for several years and only have the
non-promiscuous problem when using a switch (which is due to the way
switches work).

Also, did you uninstall previous versions of WinPCap (& reboot) and Ethereal
(and reboot) before installing newer versions?
There were problems if you did not uninstall WinPCap v2 before installing
v3.x
