proiv.exe is part of our acctg package that uses sql 2000. all workstations
lock up with proiv.exe taking 50%, system ide 49% and task mgr 1% of cpu
usage. p4 2.8mhz with 2gb memory. server is sbs premium w/o exchange or mail
servers. all hardware has been tested, server setup and cabling tested by
computer people and acctg software people have never heard of this problem.
no one can figure out what problem is. when proiv locks ups, we can use
computer for anything else such as email, excel, access and see zero problems
or slowness. no errors on ws or server. any ideas nav corp edition is also
on server and rtvscan.exe is biggest hog at 33,000k. tried to eliminated
scanning of sql databases but it didn't help either.

Are you sure that the program is actually locked up and not working or
waiting? I can get Excel to do the same thing for over 5 minutes just
importing some data into a worksheet. Maybe there is something in the
database that is causing a very long delay and everyone thinks that the
program is locked up.
