Progress bar

The progress bar at the bottom of IE no longer shows up.
What I mean by the progress bar is the part where it
shows that it is loading the page. It is the area where
you would see where a link would take you if you put the
cursor over the link.

I have all the updates provided by windows, I have
scanned for viruses, and I am baffled. I am using
Windowns XP on a Dell mini tower.

PLease help.

Go up to the view menu and place a check next to status bar.
