Programs won't run

Strange problem here if anyone can help.

The first time I noticed this was when I tried installing
Real Player. The program downloads and installs without
any problem. HOWEVER, when I try to run the program, it
does absolutely nothing. The hourglass icon comes up for
a few seconds like the computer is trying to run the
program but it will never open. (The computer doesn't
lock up; it just does nothing.) I've tried opening it
using any method I can think of (desktop shortcut,
program files, START menu, etc...) but nothing works.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled several different
versions of it but had no success. I contacted Real
Networks and they were no help. Our Computer Center on
campus was also completely mystified. (It's not a
firewall issue; on my old computer, I was able to use
Real Player without any problem so long as I configured
it to work around the firewall.) I've even run all the
Windows updates thinking that might help and it has not.

Today I had to install a new version of Recruitment Plus
(basically a detailed tracker for all applicants) and am
having the same problem: when I try to run the program,
nothing happens. It appears to be the same problem I was
having with Real Player, but I haven't fooled with it
long enough to be sure.

If anyone has any ideas, they would definitely be
appreciated! If it helps, my compter is only a few
months old; has Win XP professional Version 2002; Pentium
4 CPU 2.60 GHz, 2.59 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM.

In the internal security center of xp sp2, you need to
authorize the application(s) to have access. Also the
websites need to be inserted int the trusted sites zone and
popup blocker as authorized sites. Had a similar issue with
weatherbug, and the above worked for it.. You have nothing
to lose in trying the above. The site to authorize for
RealPlayer is *.real.com (Net Explorer).

Net enabled application are Explorer, Net explorer,
RealPlayer (or all media players), any mail programs you
use, and optionally word processors & office applications.
These must be listed in the firewall setup of security
center in order to run properly.

In 2 Timothy 3:1-7, there is a list of the qualities that
Unregenerate man will have in the last days. Is your quality
found there? If So, don't despair - Christ came to save His
people.
