I've got some programs that popup at the end of starting
XP (Easy CD Creator, and a MS Publishing install). Where
do I go to stop this?
If you don't want these programs to run on startup, there are a few
things you can do.
1) Check the program settings. I'm sure Easy CD creator, for instance,
has a setting for running at startup.
2) Check what's in your Start->Programs->Start Up folder. If you can't
seem to remove things by using the each configuration tool in the
individual softwares, check here first.
3) Run msconfig.exe. I usually just go to Start->Run. Go to the Startup
page tab and uncheck all the programs you don't want to run on startup.
Be careful, tho. You can really screw things up here if you're not
careful. After you've unchecked all the programs you don't want to run,
hit OK and restart your computer. You'll probably get an annoying
message when your computer restarts saying that you changed some startup
settings (DUH!).
If I were you, I'd make a system restore point before doing this just to
be safe.
Hope this helps.
