I have at least 2 programs that should be loading into the
system tray on the taskbar. One program's support person
had me delete and completely reinstall the program. It
still doesn't load at startup. Must be an XP problem, as
it's more than one program?

it.

Try this: Go to Control Panel, then open the Add or Remove Programs Icon.
Now open the Add/Remove Windows components icon. Scroll down to Networking
Services, click it, then look for Universal Plug and Play. If it's checked,
uncheck it and click OK all the way out. Restart your machine and the
System Tray icons should all stay there all the time.

It's been a problem in XP all along. Don't know if it's a timing issue
and/or compatibility issue but there has definitely been a bit of
fragility about this area. Usually logging off and logging back on will
load up the missing icons.
