This is a good one.......I had my hard disk cleaned up of viruses by CompUSa.
Even bought a new hard drive....but when I try to open programs, it takes a
least 10 minutes for anything to open up. Help ( been back to compusa
numerous times & they find anything wrong!)

Your system is compromised. Format your disk, then
re-install Windows from scratch.

I've already done that!

Then take the machine to a competent professional computer tech who doesn't
work for CompUSA. You need someone who is skilled to look at the machine.
The problems could be caused by 1) you installing something onto your clean
system that is a virus (I had a client who did that); 2) a hardware
problem. Since you bought a new hard drive, I doubt that the drive is the
issue but it might be your motherboard and/or the power supply. It sounds
like your drive is in PIO mode and since it's a new drive, if this is your
issue then it's probably the motherboard.
