From a purely vba programming point of view are there any substantive
changes in Acc 2007 compared to Acc XP ? Or is it all just interface
changes and a sprinkling of extra properties and methods here and there ?
What about jet, DAO, & ADO, have they changed much ?

Aim asking from the pov of an Acc 2 - Acc XP programmer who wants to know
if he neeeds to do some reading up on new stuff or if I can just work with
Acc 2007 easily if I have to.

Access 2007 represents the biggest change between versions EVER. If you didn't
see the MS logo you would think it was a completely different program. It is
not just differences in apperance either. Changes for the developer are
substantial. So far people either hate it or love it, but either way you will
need some time to get to the same comfort level you have had with Access up to
now.
(IMO)

I knew the DAP was dead but the ADP is dead as well ?

Fromg the link below:
"Access 2007 does not support ADPs as well as previous versions. Microsoft
recommends using attached tables instead, as explained in the book,
Microsoft Access Developer's Guide to SQL Server by Andy Baron and Mary
Chipman."

Mostly in "the handwriting is on the wall" sense. When a new version as drastic
in the scope of its changes as Access 2007 comes out and an existing feature is
not only not enhanced, but actually pushed into the shadows, I'd say that the
handwriting is in bold-face.

My guess is that ADP will stick around as long as it takes very little effort
for MS to keep it around. It didn't catch on much when they were cheer-leading
it. When they stop talking about it altogether it will whither away rather
quickly I should think.

Of course, changes occur in the management of large companies all the time and
at some point a person might be put in a key role at MS that thinks ADPs should
be given another shot. Anything's possible.

Jet and DAO have changed to support the new complex data types. But as far as the
VBA IDE itself there haven't been any changes.

The ribbon and other elements of the GUI will take some getting used to. But not too
bad at all.
