No.

12 inches equals 30.5 centimetres.

A4 measures 29.7 centimetres.

I have a friend who has HP Photo Printing Software installed (not free
- came with her HP printer) and the program has a photos layout with
three 6 x 4in prints on one A4 size sheet, there are two positioned
longways and one positioned straight underneath these! I'd install her
prog but can't as can only be done if I install her entire HP printer
software.....

Iomega Photo Printer Software -- Sort, size, and print digital images
with Iomega Photo Printer. Works with or without Iomega devices! Free!
If you want a quick and easy way to print multiple digital camera
photos on a single sheet of paper, Iomega Photo Printer is a FREE
solution that may suit your needs. This application is very simple and
does it's job very well.

That is clever use of space then - normally margins would gobble up the
rest, but modern inkjets have improved in that regard.

I assume you are after something a bit more convenient than setting up a
template in a WYSIWYG word processor/publishing package?

How would I make such a template?
Thanks

Did you have OpenOffice.org, Word, Publisher, or something else?

I would recommend a table (3x3 initially), then edited to the following
proportions;

<All measurements centimetres>

[Column Width: 10.2, 0.2, 10.2 - Row Height: 15.2]
[Column Width: 20.6 - Row Height: 0.2] (after merging cells)
[Column Width: 2.7, 15.2, 2.7 - Row Height: 10.2]

If your package doesn't support rotation of images, then open and edit
first with something like Irfanview (quick and lightweight), then simply
copy and paste into table boxes.

Otherwise I could email you a copy of a file that I have quickly prepared
in OpenOffice if you would like to see if this is suitable.

One of my favorite apps. . . more info:

JPG and BMP formats only. This is a *very* easy program to use. Drag and
drop - WYSIWYG - you can overlap photos to make a collage. Browses
folders recursively. :)

Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP

limitations:

Will only show all images on NTFS partitions. A work-around is to mount
a *virtual* folder such as:

Program: MountVD
Author: Walker Brothers
Ware: (Freeware)
http://www.walkerbrotherssa.com/

FAT32 partitions - does not recognize/show folders that have these
attributes set: system folders, read-only folders, hidden folders.

Place 2 of images side by side along the long side and the third
perpendicularly to them and they'll pack up to be 8 inches by 10
inches... which easily fits on 8.3 x 11.7 inch A4 paper.
For viewing the whole sheet, it will only work easily if one of the
images has the opposite orientation to the other two; but if they're
being cut out to give 6 x 4 snapshots, it works fine.

Thanks for that, I'll have a bash at it with my MS word or MS

If you have Windows XP, the built in Photo Printing Wizard will do this.

Have you tried the pano - aspect of Irfanview? I've scanned photos
into the computer via HP 3-in-one and done that...and also just
collected 4 photos and used IrfanView to place them side by side.
They can also be resized if you like...BEFORE pano...
Just a thought. I don't know if it will place rows of photos...I've only
used it sparingly and have only seen the side by side pano.

Don't forget to alter the page margins too.

Very fine horizontally at 0.2 centimetres left and right, with a bit more
leeway vertically (1.6 centimetres should suffice).

Just be aware that if the photo hasn't been edited to conform to a 3 x 2
ratio, that it will fit the image to the "height" of the table cell,
meaning you will end up with a bit of white space on either end. Forcing it
to fit 6 x 4 when the source is 6 x 4.5 would result in a bit of
distortion.

Let me know how you get on if you do try this method.
