Hi, I recently downloaded an internet explorer add-on
called MyIE2. Now I found this program to more of a
hassle than a help and I uninstalled it. Upon
uninstalling it I opened AIM and attempted to click on a
link. It then gave me a message "stating the link;
program not found" i then click "ok" and then a new
window says "Unknown Handler" "Unable to find an
application to handle the protocol "http" of the
hyperlink you selected. Please type in the path of the
application to handle this URL or click the Browse
button. It gives me an "OK", a "Cancel" Button, An open
field and a "browse..." button. Underneath is also gives
me a "Set as default application" check box. I found that
if i open the Internet Explorer URL that it opens find
but i get that same message again. I wanted to know if
anyone could help me make internet explorer my default
browser. I've tried reinstalling IE, i have tried
resetting my web settings and nothing seems to work.
thanks so much if you can help!!! -Kate

Try IE-Tools-Internet Options-Programs.
Check the box "IE should ask..."
Close IE and re-open it.

If that doesn't help....
This is what I would advise for Win98, though it may be a little
different in another operating system:

If this doesn't correct the association then try a Repair from Control
Panel-Add/Remove for "Microsoft Internet Explorer..."

Another option is to fix it manually.
Go to View -Folder Options -File Types in Windows Explorer
Find URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol
Edit, highlight open and edit again:
This is what you should alter it to be

Application used to perform action:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(assuming the same path)

DDE should be checked.

DDE Message
