Program keeps trying to install at Boot-up

Several months ago i downloaded a program called Lemontonic Messenger from
http://www.lemontonic.com . This is an online dating service and the
Lemontonic Messenger was a version of MSN Messenger that was custom made for
Lemontonic, so users of the service could meet and chat online.

Back in February Lemontonic discontinued the use of the Messenger and now
all their dating and chatting is done through their website. I have had this
program sitting on my system and a few days ago I went into Add/Remove
Programs and tried to uninstall it. The uninstall launched and the status
bar indicated it was about 75% of the way through the uninstall and then
that progress window just disappeared and the uninstaller disappeared.

Now everytime I boot my system the Windows INSTALLER starts up and tries to
re-install (not uninstall) the Lemontonic Messenger. It then complains that
the source code can not be found and asks me to browse to the location of
the Lemontonic MSI file. This, of course has been deleted during the portion
of the uninstall that was successful.

I have gone into the registry and tried to remove any keys which referenced
"Lemontonic" but I still get this pesky installer loading at every reboot
and trying to re-install the Lemontonic Messenger.

Can anyone tell me how to get the Windows installer to stop trying to
install this program at startup? I really don't mind if there are some
residual files from Lemontonic Messenger left on the system, as long as it
doesn't continually try to reinstall itself at boot-up.

I am using Windows 2000 SP4.

Thanks in advance.

I have temporarily fixed this problem by disabling ISUSPM.exe. (Install
Shield Update Service Scheduler.) This application seems to be
responsible for trying to load Lemontonic at startup. I think that
disabling this application is not the best route, so I will try to
locate references to ISUSPM.exe in the registry and try to erase any
mention of lemontonic. Basic searches for Lemontonic in the registry
are coming up empty. At least it's currently not trying to load at
startup, but I may need to use ISUSPM.exe in the future, so keeping it
disabled is probably not the best option. :)

You can navigate to;
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer
and delete the "InProgress" subkey to terminate all installations in
progress.

Dave,

I don't have "InProgress". Under
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\ I have
Folders, Secure, Upgrade Codes, and User Data. Should I create a new
key called 'InProgress' and if so with what values?

Thanks.

No, then something else is going on. Get in touch with the application
developer.
