Hello,

In my Windows XP laptop, I've 2 ( admin ) users and
a 'guest'.

I'd like to use 2 different network( wireless ) cards for
these 2 administrators. Unfortunately, as I had installed
and am using the D-Link card for admin-user#1, it shows
up by default for the 2nd administrator.

Is it possible to install and attach these 2 cards to the
2 different id's.

Any pointers would be helpful. Thanks.

Kramer.

No... hardware drivers are loaded before anyone logs in and run
independently of the user (this is actually a big part of the Windows NT
security model.)

Try using hardware profiles-- it would require to select a profile while
Windows is loading up. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308577

You could try creating a BAT file for each user, and then put a shortcut to the appropriate one in the Start Menu, Startup folder.

Use IPCONFIG /RELEASE <Connection name> to release the IP address on the card you don't want to use

Use IPCONFIG /RENEW <Connection name> to renew or establish the IP address on the card you do want to use.

Alternatively, see: http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/q311/2/72.asp

This article describes a command line tool that can be used for the same purpose. Use a BAT file to disable/enable the adapters as desired.

That's a bummer.

In that case, can I install and use those 2 cards. I understand that they
both use TCP/IP settings of the OS.

Will installing the 2nd card, screw-up those entries...

Thanks.
