I work for a company that manages around 400 machines. We are starting to
update user profiles on these machines. The updates include things like
security on Excel and Internet Explorer to placing an icon for My Documents
on the desktop. I would like to know if there is a way I can update the
NtUser.dat file. As of right now I have a lot of work ahead of me if there is
no way to update this file.

Do you use:

Active Directory?
Roaming profiles?

If so, group policy, and centralized access to all the profile folders, will
help you immensely. Otherwise, I predict a lot of worn shoe leather in your
future.

No Active Directory
No Roaming Profiles

I suggest a lot of coffee, and a lot of warm bodies to help with this. Ouch.
I'm sure a clever scripting person could do a lot, but you're still going to
have to do a lot of desktop visits.

Dare I ask why you have 400 machines and no AD?

Same thing I have asked for the last two years.
