i have recently had to perform a reinstall on a system, in
which the drive is partitioned into system (c) and data (d)
volumes.
since the reinstall, i have tried using the SET commands
to modify the environment variables, but the changes will
not take effect permanently.
the issue is after the reinstall, the profiles that were
on d: are no longer the defaults, and the system created a
documents and settings on c drive where there was no such
directory before.
i have got a recommendation to modify the autoexec.bat
file, but before doing so, i would like to know if there
was a way perhaps in the registry to permanently set the
SET variables for USERPROFILE, ALLUSERSPROFILE, APPDATA,
TEMP, and TMP.
any recommendations would be appreciated. thank you.
