I there a way in XP Pro to setup a gerneral porfile that has predetermined
settings? What I mean is tool bar settings, printer settings, other settings
in Word, and settings in other applications. I want it so when a new user
logs in, these settings will be automatic. I have tried creating a profile
and copying it to the default user, but it does not work. My main concern is
all the settings in Word and Excell I have to do.

How exactly did you copy your sample profile
to the Default User?

Seeing that something did not go according to plan, I'm
trying to find out why. That's why I'm asking for details.

Oh sorry, well I created a profile, made some changes to desktop and other
items. Logged off and logged back on as admin.. At this point, I copied the
profile directly into the default user dir.. Logged on as a new user, and
the changes where not there.

How did you copy the profile? From Explorer? My Computer?
Command Prompt? Other?

This took a little bit of nudging . . . Your method will yield the
desired results if you observe these points:
1. Create a profile for user xxx with all the attributes you
require, e.g. desktop background, layout, Word settings,
Excel, Outlook. Internet Explorer etc. etc.
2. Reboot the machine.
3. Log on as administrator.
4. Copy xxx's profile to c:\documents and settings\default user.
You will get a prompt about overwriting an existing profile.
Overwrite it!
5. Check if the folder c:\documents and settings\yyy exists.
If it does, delete it.
6. Log on as yyy. You will now see the profile you set up
for xxx.

Thanks, I will give it a try again. Are you saying copying the same way I
did it or by using explorer?
