Product Key problem

Hi,

I just moved and my computer was damaged during shipping. Now that I
received my computer after it was repaired, I have to register windows again.

The problem is that I am trying to type in my product key but the letter "o"
will not type in, hence I cannot complete the registration process for which
only 2 days remain. I tried the alt 79 and that too did notr work. It was
registered from Germany before when I bought this new computer.

How can this problem be solved?

Make sure you are using the correct keyboard layout. Go to the Control
Panel and look for the Regional & Language applet and set your keyboard
to what it should be.

I don't believe the letter "O" is a character used in
any Microsoft Product Key. Take another look at
the Product Key as the character may actually be a
"Q".

Up to now, there has been no letter "O" (or number "0", for that
matter) in Microsoft Product Keys. Are you sure it shouldn't be a "Q"
that's called for?

Well spotted.

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for your help. The problem turned out to be a number 6
instead of a G, a letter "D" instead of an "o". I sure wish they would make
these keys with bigger caracters so we can read them properly.

Microsoft product keys do not contain the letter 'O' (looks too much
like a '0') it may be a 'Q', or maybe a 'C'.

Microsoft doesn't give a shit about its customers. If it did, it would do as
you suggest or better still get rid of that silly product key requirement
all together. The richest software company in the world can well afford to
start trusting its customers.

When Microsoft stops treating its customers as thieves, I might consider
running Windoze again. Of course, I wouldn't allow it to access the
Internet. Windoze has no place on the Internet.
