Hi all,

Just need a little advice. I have had XP for a couple years now and
recently I moved across the country. The move is not complete in that I am
in temporary housing and my stuff is in transit storage until I get a home.
Unfortunately, when I took my computer with me I did not remember to get my
XP CD and other software CDs to take with me (Hence they are all in storage
and I cannot get to them until they deliver) in case of any problems. Well,
I had an error on booting up after the move (corrupt file, etc.) and ended
up reinstalling Windows XP from a friend's CD temporarily without
activating. When I do get my Windows XP CD back, I plan to reinstall or
better yet, change to my legal product key without reinstalling.

My question is can I call Microsoft and have them find out what mine is by
giving them my name, etc. since I activated it in the past? I registered it
so why wouldn't they be able to help me and give me my product key in this
unfortunate time. After all, I bought the darn thing full price back then
and all we get is zero free service from Microsoft after like 2 inquires.
Why must it be hard for legitimate buyers to get support for something like
this?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.
