I have 382 mb of PC133 RAM, and a 900 MhZ processor (AMD Athlon). I want to
keep this computer for another 2 or 3 years. My hard drive is 40GB, and Im
using 18 GB at the current time. I didn't ever think it was a problem but
when I go to the Task Manager and read those CPU Usage, I see it is bouncing
around from 4% to 22% while I am not doing anything. I didnt think it was a
problem but some guy at a local futueshop tells me it should be closer to 0%.
Is this true? I have a router going to my computer with a DSL Basic package
as well. When I checked this meter, as far as I was aware, the only thing
running in the background was MSN Messenger. My virus scanner says there's
nothing after updating the definitions, and the Ad Aware SE Pro just finished
dleeting everything... Same thing.... The meter is still bouncing from 4% to
22%... Is it possible there is a Virus or Spam or Adware on my computer that
my scanners arent picking up? I am using Norton 2004 (with an updated
subscription, and Ad Aware SE Pro, along with another ad-scanner that I can't
think of the name at the current time, although it is a popular free one. The
Norton has the Auto-Protect Enabled so, that may also be running in the
background. If you need to know anything else, do not hesitate to ask me.
