I recently had problems with my laptop identifying my hard drive. A black and
then a blue screen with a message saying " unable to locate bootable
devices". I was told this was a software problem and so restoring my \laptop
to its factory settings was the best option.

I have just done this and everything seemed to be working fine until a few
days ago with my laptop taking 2 mins to boot up and aslo the processor icon
on my laptop is flashing over excessively. My system seems to freeze then.
The processor icon stills continues to flash over the top for another 30 mins
or so before caming down to a normal level.

In task manager my CPU usage was all over the place with it goin from 100%
to 95% and staying above 70% for about 30 mins. I tink these %'s are
extremely high?

Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to resolve this issue? My
laptop is only 5 months old also.

Please help!

Many thanks.

Please look in the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for Warning
and Error Reports over the last 2 days use and post copies here.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, and
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;enus;308427&Product=winxp

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you should
double click for further information. You can copy using copy and paste.
Often the link will, however, say there is no further information.

(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click
on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now
start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This
will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event
Viewer.

Hope this helps.
