I was told I have to many processes running. Can someone help me as to which
ones I should delete or end. I don't have no idea what they mean or what the
program is? I've tryed some of the suggestions however I still don't know
which ones to end or delete.

Thanks
Doris

Unfortunately well-meaning people often tell you things like this, when they
have little to no idea what they are talking about.

How many processes do you have running? How many do you think are too many?
Windows XP typically has a lot running and they typically represent no
problem at all.

In reality, the number is largely irrelevant. As with most things, what
might be an issue is *which* ones are running, but not how many.

My advice is to delete or end no services, unless you have have very clearly
identified and confirmed that you don't need or want them. Don't go looking
to create problems for yourself.

Hi Ken, I have between 51 to 59 processes running. I thoought it should be
about 35-40, but I don't know which ones to delete. I was told that's why my
computer is running slow in loading. Can you help me?
Thanks
Doris

There's nothing particularly unusual about the number you have, and there is
no "should be."

I was
told that's why my computer is running slow in loading.

You were told wrong. As I said below, "what might be an issue is *which*
ones are running, but not how many."

Can you help
me?

Besides my comments above, my personal view is that the attention many
people pay to how long it takes to boot is unwarranted. Assuming that the
computer's speed is otherwise satisfactory, it may not be worth worrying
about. Most people start their computers once a day or even less frequently.
In the overall scheme of things, even a few minutes to start up isn't very
important. Personally I power on my computer when I get up in the morning,
then go get my coffee. When I come back, it's done booting. I don't know how
long it took to boot and I don't care.
