Hi,

According to Qfecheck.exe I need to reinstall Hotfix Q322011. My first
thought was to uninstall in Control panel then run Windows Update. However
Control Panel displays a warning that most of my applications will be
adversely affected if I proceed with the uninstall. I'd be grateful
therefore if someone could tell me what procedure I ought to follow in order
to accomplish the reinstallation safely?

Thanks in advance.

Dick,

Why do you want to re install the Hotfix? Is it that you HAVE installed it, but
you're being told to install it anyway?

Windows Update Site Lists Updates That You Already Installed

And Dick, please don't contribute to the spread and success of email address
mining viruses. Learn to munge your email address properly, to keep yourself a
bit safer when posting to open forums. Protect yourself and the rest of the
internet - never post your address unmunged.

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt response.

Windows Update isn't prompting me to reinstall the Hotfix. I want to do so
because Qfecheck tells me that "This Hotfix should be reinstalled" and
because the Hotfix itself looks significant. Qfecheck is described at:

://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/s
upport/kb/articles/Q282/7/84.ASP&NoWebContent=1

The Hotfix is presumably registered on my system because Qfecheck reports it
as improperly installed. I can't identify it in my Windows Update
Installation History as either a successful or a failed update and I'm at a
loss to know what to do next. Do nothing and await SP2? Download it anyway?
Delete the registry entry?

Point taken about MUNGing though I would plead in mitigation that I'm using
a throwaway email address specifically created for this post.

Hi,

Further to my last message the Qfecheck link should have been:

Sorry.
