Can anyone tell me why the option of going in to standby mode is not
available to me anymore ...it is grayed out!!! Puter just went in to thge
shop for a fix ,,,and came back like this ...any suggestions out there. One
other thing ...whole system seems to be running a lot slower than before but
i am getting no error messages and no conflicts.

Power management features-in particular standby and hibernation-rely on device
drivers that support power management in addition to compatible hardware. In
particular, incompatible video drivers prevent these features from working. The
built-in VGA driver, for example, is a bare-bones driver that doesn't support
power management.

Perhaps take it back to the shop where you had it repaired if you're not happy.
