problems with uploading pst files

I had three identities set up on my laptop. Since I had
to give up my laptop, which was running Office 2003 and
Windows XP home, I exported all my outlook folders to pst
files (without encryption) and saved them on CD. I then
copied those files to my desktop (running Outlook 2000
and windows XP home).

Big problem; even when I recreated teh identities on my
desktop, and tried to import those pst files, I got a
message saying that I was not authorised to view those
files. they were not compatible with this profile.

I have a lot of important work e mails. Is it at all
possible to import these files or have I lost them for
good?

Outlook does not have identities. What do you really mean?

I hope you exported that to PSTs that said "Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders
file (.pst)" or you haven't a prayer of reading them.
I then
copied those files to my desktop (running Outlook 2000
and windows XP home).

And then removed the Read-Only attribute with right-click>Properties>uncheck
Read-Only.

If the above two items have been done, then use File>Open>Personal Folders
File to open the PSTs. Don't import.
