problems with the internet

For the last few days I've been having problems with the internet. I can get on line and surf fine, but when i have to log into any kind of website including msn passport i get a "Page cannot be displayed". I've checked my internet options they're fine, I've trying uninstalling and reinstalling IE and msn Explorer, no luck. This pretty much all started last week when I started downloading windows updates and installed norton internet security. I've also tried system restore, but it wouldn't restore.

I really need some help with this, I need to be able to log onto websites, to check mail, pay bills, etc.
 
disable nortons, see if it makes a diff.
