I am having problems downloading files (such as Real Player 10) into my
Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet FIles\Content.IE5 folder. I
receive the error message "Windows cannot access the specified deice, path,
or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I
am logged onto the Administrator account, and this supposedly comes with no
limitations on access priviliges. In addition, when I tried to find the
\Local Settings\TIF\Content.IE5 folder, I find that the Content.IE5 folder is
missing, and that I had to manually type the full path into Windows Explorer
to access the folder. In addition, the downloads seem to work when Windows is
in safe mode with networking, but not with normal startup. Can anyone help me
to resolve this problem? (I am using Windows XP Professional). Thanks!

Content.IE5 is probably not missing, it's a *hidden* folder that can't be
accessed from Windows Explorer.

Why on earth are you trying to download to Content.IE5??

Enough crap gets loaded into Content.IE5 as it is. Create a folder called
My Downloads or something and download to it.

To access your Content.IE5 folder.....
Start | Run | Type: cleanmgr | OK | Highlight Temporary Internet Files |
View Files button

Or...

Start | Run | Type: %TEMP% | OK |

You will probably have to click the Folders button on the Tool Bar.
Click: [+] Temporary Internet Files
Click: [+] Content.IE5
Click: Random named folders

Or...

Paste this in the Run box (change Your Name Here):::
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5

Or...

Paste this in the Run box
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5

Well, it looks like that I can access the files
downloaded into the temporary internet files folder
directly by browsing through them, but I can't get IE6
to "open" it automatically after downloading it. Whenever
I choose the "open" command, the file would download, but
when IE6 tries to open it, it gives me "Windows cannot
access the specified deice, path, or file. You may not
have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Is
there another solution to this problem?
