I have a problem with the task bar. When I installed windows vista, the fist
time the task bar was transparent, but after the first reboot this
fonctionality had disappeared. And it's impossible restart this
fontionality.... thanks for the help

If you are running a window as full screen the taskbar is no longer
transparent. Normal and expected.

So am I.

If you have a transparent task bar, and run a windowed program as full
screen, the taskbar becomes non-transparent.

I am having the same problem.

I had the task bar show as transparent until today. It is now solid if I
have a window full screen as well as if all of my windows are minimized to
the task bar, or partial screen size.

The only change I have made recently is the installation of dream scene, but
the change did not happen for a number of reboots after the installation. I
would also note that I no longer have the ability to select "Show window
previews (thumbnails)" in the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box
(which I could a couple of days ago).

I'm not sure if any one else has figured out how to reactivate this feature,
but I would appreciate any help that could be given.

Wow, thats a fast double post. I decided to start turning off all of my
processes to see if anything was tricking aero into thinking it shouldn't be
glass. None of the non-essentials worked, so I started clicking things in
the taskbar options. Turning off the iTunes toolbar option re-enabled the
glass affect. I don't think that I had this error before, but looking back I
did have an auto update from apple, so maybe the new version has a conflict.
Sorry for posting before exhausting my options.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, BRAD!
Finally I understand why my task bar has been transparent for only one
day!
:D

Has anyone seen an odd issue with the Vista taskbar with the "address"
toolbar open? I leave the address toolbar visible at all times, and I
have transparency set with Aero. Everything is normally fine.

Sometimes, however, as a result of RDPing in and out of my Vista
machine, that address toolbar's font goes haywire. Whereas it is
normally 'black', it changes to a really light color that cannot be
seen hardly at all. I generally have to turn off Aero and re-enable
it to get it back to normal.

Disabling Transparency does nothing.

On a side note, if I maximize a window, all transparency/glass effects
disappear (as expected), and the font on the address toolbar returns
to normal, until I unmaximize.

You might want to take a look at the following article. This may be another
problem related to this issue that is discussed in that article.

The Windows desktop may stop updating correctly after a Windows Vista-based
computer has been running for an extended period of time:
