I upgraded my desktop OS to Windows XP in August and have had problems
syncronizing my pocket pc ever since. I receive error message "critical
communication services have failed to start. Try resetting the mobile
device, and then connect again".
I have downloaded and installed AS 3.8, new Toshiba PDA USB driver, and
reinitialized the PDA. Nothing works!!! Microsoft tells me it is an Outlook
problem (not supported by them), Gateway tells me it is operating system
problem (not supported by them) and Toshiba has sent me a replacement PDA
which gets the same error message. One person told me it was the filesystem
used by Windows XP and I needed to reformat and reinstall Windows XP.
Another said I needed to uninstall McAfee and Ad-aware.
1. How can I tell what file system I am using?
2. Can Mcafee firewall and viruscan and ad-aware be interferring with the
sync? (I have tried closing before sync without any luck. It is really
necessary to uninstall them.)
3. Any other suggestions from anyone before I tackle these "extreme fixes"
Thanks for your help
