problems with scrolling down pages

I have recently updated to XP from '98 and an finding
that whenever i scroll down a page, the movement is very
jerky as if the page is refreshing every time it gets to
a new position. This is happening on explorer and on
office products.

If anyone has had this problem and knows how to rectify
it, it would be greatly appreciated if you could pass
that information on to me.

Check the box labeled "use smoth scrolling" advanced tab

I had to reinstall Windows XP and am now having scrolling
problems cited in this thread. Didn't have them
before. "Use Smooth Scrolling" box is checked. Have tried
various options under control panel/mouse and nothing
solves the issue.

Ideas?
