Problems with reinstall of XP

I have been doing a complete reinstall of XP Pro & have had a few problems.
There are 2 problems at the moment so I have put them into 2 emails. This
is being sent on another machine.

The disk that comes with my Intel motherboard which has everything already
onboard, has about a 6 things to install. In the past it installs the first
item & reboots then installs the second item & reboots again automatically
until it's go them all installed. This time I doesn't install something
called Extreme Graphics Integrated graphics drivers. No reason is given for
this & I then retry with the same results. The only thing that I can think
is different from the last install of XP is that I no longer have a CRT
monitor but rather dual LCD ones but these never came with any software so
presumably this isn't the problem.

Any ideas as to how I can overcome this problem.

Thanks in advance

I presume that when you bought and connected the two LCD
monitors you disabled the Intel on-board graphics and
installed a dual head graphics card. You will need to
install the drivers for that card.

I haven't done anything about the new dual monitors. As I said in my first
posting I'm sure I never ever had any software to install before. Since
sending the first email I have now installed SP2. I have reinserted the
Intel software disk & now it show the Extreme Graphics as being installed.
That's the good news. The bad news is that it now shows that the USB2 isn't
installed whereas before it was. This no doubt accounts for the problem
mentioned in my other email about hard drives not been recognized .

Only one of my monitors is displaying. Going to Control Panel display &
properties I see that the system has correctly identified 1 monitor as
Radeon 3200 SE SEC family (Microsoft Corporation). Actually I think this is
referring to my dual head card. The 2nd monitor is listed as (default
Monitor & then gives the same card reference about it.. When I click on the
second monitor it says that the 2nd monitor isn't active, whatever that
means. How do I make it active?

To make the monitor active, right click on the desktop, go to "Properties"
then "Settings", click on the No.2 monitor symbol and then check the box at
the bottom of that tab that says "Extend my Windows desktop onto this
monitor". That ought to do it.
