I've been struggling with my computer trying to download pdf files through
Firefox and Internet Explorer. I can download them as attachments in Emails,
but can't when they're embedded in a web page. In the end I had to use my
other (portable) computer (which has no virus protection) to download them
and then send the file to myself by Email. My main computer runs McAfee,
though I've specified that Adobe Acrobat can access files on the internet. I
have gone into the downloads part of the options menu and selected pdf files
as Save only, which doesn't help.

Any suggestion what's going on?

It just displays a blank page when I try to download any pdf files.

YOu're probably missing a browser plug-in for PDF, so you should
right-click > Save As... to download, and then open it in Acrobat.

There wasn't an icon for the pdf file- it just showed a blank screen. But I
found a plugin on the Firefox site which worked a treat.

The icon/link BEFORE you got to the blank screen...
