Problems with new harddrive

I have just purchased a WD 200G HDD + a Pioneer A07 Dual
Layer DVD Writer & installed them successfully (the HDD is
my second drive - I have a 40G HDD used as the C drive).
What I have now found is that when I go to save files to
the new HDD, the files copy but the computer automatically
wants to burn them onto my liteon CD-RW drive. I get the
bubble telling me that I have files awaiting burning to
CD. When I check the file properties, they are in fact the
files I loaded onto the HDD. THe files are trying
to 'move' onto CD. If I delete the temporary files....I am
effectively deleting the installed files on the HDD.

Any ideas ??

Try reassigning drive letters to the devices. Right click on My
Computer, click Manage, click Disk Management. Try giving them
different drive letters. The other thought is to remove both of them
from Device Manager (Start-Run-devmgmt.msc) and reboot. It will
reinstall them for you and hopefully fix the problem.

Did you used to have a burner that had the same drive letter as your new
hard drive? It may still think it is a burner by looking at the drive
letter.

Thanks Nathan. I ended up using both of your
suggestions....reinstalling and then reassigning the
drives. Appears to have workewd a treat.

Thanks.

Glad to hear you got it working. I have a feeling the system still
thought your old burner was the new hard drive :)
