Problems with logon script - XP/2003

Hello

I am having problems when connecting to a domain on a
Win2k3 server with an XP computer. The computer does
connect to the domain, but the logon script never runs,
thus no drives are mapped. I need to click Start -> Log
Off and login again to get the logon script to run. This
is very consistent. It works this way, regardless of the
user account I am logging in with. All other workstations
on the domain are working fine, even with the same user
accounts I am having trouble with on the original
computer. The problem seems to be with the computer
itself. I reformatted the hard drive and reconfigured
everything from scratch, but that didn't help.

Event Viewer shows the following warning in the System
log:

Your computer was not able to renew its address from the
network (from the DHCP server) for the Network Card with
address 000CF1AAA9B0. The following error occurred:
The Semaphore timeout period has expired. Your computer
will continue to try and obtain an address on its own
from the network address (DHCP) server.

An ipconfig does show an IP address, and as stated
earlier, I am connected to the domain, but the logon
script does not run.

The computer is a new Dell Dimension, running Windows XP
Professional with an Intel Pro/100 VE nic card. Any ideas?

Thanks

Do you have multiple network cards on that computer?
If so check TCP/IP properties on the approprate cards

Do you have a DHCP server
If not you have to create a Static IP on the problem computers network card/cards

If you do have a DHCP server check your TCP/IP settings and make sure everything is correct on the network card/cards

If everything checks out you may have some issues with TCP/IP DHCP renewing
You may need to Rip/Reinstall TCP/IP

If none of these steps work a workaround you can try will be creating a batch file that will run the script for you

If this does not work the issue is because your computer is trying to Map Drives with an network connection that is not yet present

Thanks for the suggestions. Only 1 network card and am
using a DHCP server. Everything seems to be setup
correctly in TCP/IP. May try the workaround you
suggested.
