Hi, We are running WindowsXP and Office XP. One of my users have the
following experience:

"Each time I open outlook I? get the following

1/ Data file mailbox user (ost file) did not close properly file been
checked for problems.
This takes about 6-7 minutes to check itself each time I open outlook, once
this has completed I get the next error box

2/ Data file Archive(Local psf file) did not close properly file been
checked for problems
This one takes about 10-11 minutes to complete

This does not occur when I work on line either at home or in the office and
only does it when trying to work off-line.

Does any have a clue how to solve this?"

How can this be solved?

Hi - when the user experiences this, what is it they did before? Have they
closed Outlook & shut down the computer before taking it home?

According to the user, the computer has been closed down.
Could it have these effect if you only put the computer in Hibernation mode?

Yes, I think so. Have them shut down first and test.

Test this yourself on his computer - sync his OST file and close Outlook.
Shut down the PC. Unplug it from the network. Start up the PC and log in as
him. Open Outlook. What happens?

What's the PST file for - archiving?

The local pst file is for archiving, he receive so much E-mail that it will
extend the limit of his OST file.

OK -

How big is his OST file?
How big is his PST file?

You can control the size of his OST file by selecting what to sync - don't
sync everything. Use filtering, or don't select all folders.

I sure hope you're using mailbox quotas. If his OST file is getting close to
the 2GB limit, his mailbox is very large - even if he really needs a large
mailbox, don't have *any* mailboxes that don't have quotas. Set reasonable
quotas on the store level itself and make exceptions for the few who really
need larger ones.
