I don't think I've made any changes to any FP2003 settings, but when I
insert a picture, instead of seeing the photo, I see a box with a red X
through it, like there's a problem. That's in design mode.

But when I go to preview mode, the picture is there just fine. I just can't
modify its settings in design mode because I can't click on it.

Any thoughts?

Do you have the web opened in FrontPage,
and have you imported the images into your web
prior to inserting them in pages??

I have the page open at the moment, yes, and its in FP2003.

I had the pictures working in this same web, then I decided to change
things, deleted all the files, and started over again.

Having the page open isn't the same as have
the page open with the web open.

If you right click a file and then click Edit, it will open
in FrontPage, but the "Web" is not open, therefore FP
can not update the navigation structure of your web.

So, always launch FrontPage, Then select File > Open Web,
and then when the web is open select the page you want to edit
and insert your images.

Make sure the images are imported into your "open web"
before inserting.
