I just got a new laptop with XP Home and upgraded to XP
Pro. I'm having problems with getting Java to work...I
get the little red "X" thing when I go to a page that
requires Java to view. I went through the Microsoft
Knowledge Base and all of Java's Help Section and went
through all the resolutions given, to no avail. I
uninstalled Java and then tried to reinstall it but when
the installation nears the end I get this error
message: "Java Update fails to apply changes to your
system." There is no Icon for Java in the Control Panel
like there's supposed to be but it is listed in the
Add/Remove Programs list. I have no idea what to do
about this...any suggestions?
