Problems with dual boot system

I have lost all of my old settings after upgrading from win2000/win98 to Windows XP. I want to get them back! Here is what happened

I used to run a dual boot system, with windows 98 and win 2000 nt. I never used Win98, and decided to get rid of both OS's, and upgrade to Windows XP pro (upgrade edition). My computer has 2 disk drives, the first (20 GB) was logically partioned into 3 drives (I'll call them C, F & G). The second drive (80 GB) was unpartitioned and had all of my personal files on it. I'll refer to it as the H drive

Previously, Windows 98 OS ran from the C drive, and Windows 2000 nt ran from the F drive

Then I upgraded to WinXP, after booting into Win2000. So far so good. All of my Win2000 settings transferred perfectly. I now had a dual boot system (Win98 and WinXP)

But I wanted to get rid of Win98 from my C: drive, which was essentially wasting 5 GB of HD space. So, while in WinXP I used Partition Magic to format the C: drive and convert it to NTFS. I assumed this would leave me with a blank C: drive, and a single boot WinXP system. Apparently, a big mistake

The C: drive re-formatted, but the computer would no longer boot up. I went into the setup screen and changed the settings to boot from the CD ROM drive. Then I booted up the computer using the WinXP CD, and ended up re-installing WinXP onto the C: drive. During the installation, I choose

This has left me with a single boot WinXP operating system, but it is totally 'fresh.' All of my old settings are gone. For instance, all of my old internet connection and e-mail settings are gone, and it's not showing all of my old programs. I don't want to set all of this up again! I see all of my old 'data' on what used to be the F, G & H drives. But WinXP is acting like it is no longer there

How can I get my old settings back onto the 'new' WinXP??

What happened to the F drive XP installation?
You basically wiped out your boot information when you formatted the C
drive. If F is still there you may use the Recovery console and the
Bootcfg /rebuild command to add the F installation to the boot menu.
You can then check your settings and properly configure the C: XP
install.

Thank you. I'm not totally sure what you mean when you say, 'what happened to the F Drive?' I think it is still there. But how do I get the recover console running? Do I essentiallyl need to tell it to boot from the F drive rather than the C drive?

Boot to the CD and choose the first Repair option ( or you may install
it if you prefer). It would be a good idea to read a little first. Try
these.
