I'm having problems connecting to multiplayer games and I think it has
something to do with ports being locked down.
I used to have a broadband connection and everything was fine. Had to
go back to dialup(SBC Yahoo) when I moved and haven't tried
multiplayer in couple of months since. Had to get a new modem in the
meantime(Zoom 56K).
Standard internet connectivity, email and downloading work fine.
Removed the network card so the system wouldn't be confused. Have
Zonealarm installed but it's not running and XP firewall is turned
off. Had to reinstall SBC software but removed all the extra junk
like browser bar and connection manager that comes with it.
Gamespy won't bring back servers, can't log on to America's Army,
can't connect to BF1942 games, Gamespy Arcade won't start because it
can't get through firewall and can't start a Ravenshield game on
Ubi.com.
Is there some old connection setting in my registry screwing things
up? If I wasn't on dialup then I reinstall XP but it would take
forever to download all the XP patches again. Any ideas? Weird stuff
like after I removed the network card, Windows update found 3 fixes
that it didn't list before.
